All HSDS classes are every Sunday at the new Barbara King Dance Studio. Click here to view our weekly class schedule. We offer lessons for beginner to advanced dancers. No partner necessary! Our weekly Sunday dance is 8:30-10:30pm following the lessons and is open to everyone!

Bring your friends and family and join us the last Sunday of the month, January 31st, for our FREE 5th Sunday Lesson and Dance! Intro to Swing will be taught 7-8pm and the dance will follow 8-10:30pm. Don't forget that we're at our new location at the Barbara King Dance Center, 5410 Bellaire Blvd!

It's a new year and a new HOME for HSDS! The Houston Swing Dance Society has MOVED! HSDS has relocated all of our Sunday night dances and classes to the NEW Barbara King Dance Studio (5410 Bellaire Blvd, Bellaire, TX 77401) effective January 3rd, 2010.



Besides moving to a wonderful new dance studio, nothing else will change; rates, class times, teachers and dances will all remain the same!! We hope you'll join us on our journey!

HSDS is taking nominations for our Board of Directors. This group of seven elected members is responsible for bringing you great events like our annual workshop Lindyfest, weekend workshops, Harvest Moon Ball, as well as shaping our regular classes and dances.

The Houston Swing Dance Society is an organization of dedicated individuals who have a common appreciation and love of swing dancing and the Swing Dance Era. We are proud to be a part of the local arts community that makes Houston a richer place to live and visit.

Since its inception HSDS has been governed by a board of directors whose members are actively involved in all aspects of the organization. All day-to-day operations of HSDS are under the supervision of a seven member Board of Directors who have been elected in the past two years.

If you are a current HSDS member who would like to contribute to the future of HSDS please contact us to be added to the ballot. There are four open Board Member seats that we are looking to fill this year! Once enough nominations are received elections should be held late February/early March!

Do you know someone who's eager to learn lindy hop but just can't commit to going to weekly classes? We are offering a special Beginner's Track crash course for people looking to start their journey into Lindy Hop during the Lindyfest weekend. Beginner's lessons are March 13-14th.

We start from the very beginning and teach you how to put the triple in your step. You'll also be treated to special visits from legends of the dance. Registration is only $55 and includes 8 hours of instruction from Jason and Chansin Esparza at the Sheraton Hotel.

HSDS Founder, Rowena Young, will teach everyone the popular lindy hop line dance, the Shim Sham. This dance was popularized by the late Frankie Manning and incorporates jazz and tap techniques including the Shorty George, Tacky Annie and Boogie Back! Come join the party and learn this fun lindy hop line dance. Sunday's at 7:30 pm.
