Happy Mother's Day!

dance momMother's day is a great time to show Mom you care! How about bringing her out to learn Lindy Hop! Our Beginner's class is still open to new students this week. Or Mom's who already join us on Sunday's, how about sharing Lindy Hop with your loved ones! Bring the whole family out to HSDS this Sunday!
 
Bring Mom this weekend and she get's in for Free! Don't worry, if Mom's already paid for the month, she'll get a voucher for a free class.

Congratulations go out to Stefani Callihan, Estee Jacob-Caplan, Ryan Strohl and Brian Eley for their recent election to the HSDS Board of Directors! They will be joining Ken Heil, Mariah Baker, Tracy Scott and the Executive Board on the daily and long-term projects at HSDS! A big thanks to out-going Board Members Gloria Sanchez, Patty Holmes and Leah Ekstrom for all  your hard work and guidance through-out your term!

Hepcat Auditions

The Houston Hepcats, HSDS's performance team, will be holding OPEN AUDITIONS on Sunday, April 25th at 5:30pm at the King Dance Studio. Come prepared to learn and perform a bit of choreography. Bring your best swing-out as we will be focused on a good, clean swing-out to various tempos. As always, to participate in any of HSDS's teams, please make sure your membership dues are up to date BEFORE you try-out.

We're open Easter Sunday!

Yes! HSDS is always ready to swing!! We'll be open and having classes and the dance on Easter Sunday, April 4th. Look at it this way, it's a great way to work off all those Peeps and chocolate bunnies you've been snacking on all day! Don't be shy with the family, bring them along too and show them what you've been up to Sunday nights!! The more the merrier!! Hippity Hop!!

Thanks to all the wonderful people for coming out to Lindyfest and making this a great weekend! Larry and I really enjoy putting this event on year after year and all the hard work pays off when we see everyone smiling and having a good time at Lindyfest. Of course we couldn't do this without all of our wonderful volunteers who make this event a joy to run!! Not to mention our crew of instructors, DJs and performers are not just fantastic at what the do, but amazing people to share the weekend with!

March Elective is "Lindy 3"

March's elective is meant to challenge your Lindy Hop! We're bringing back Lindy 3 for the elective! This class requires proficiency in Lindy 2 (with a minimum of three months attending Lindy 2). Taught by Jason and Chansin Esparza Sunday's at 7:30pm.

Lindyfest Weekend Workshop

Lindyfest is Houston Swing Dance Society's 14th annual Lindy Hop workshop. Lindyfest is an intensive and fun lindy hop weekend workshop jammed packed with classes for all dance levels, soul sessions with living legends, hot performances and four endless nights of dancing. Lindyfest brings in hundreds of dancers from all across the globe to learn lindy hop from the masters and experience the excitement of Lindy Hop, all here in Houston.

Lindyfest dates are March 11-14th, 2010. Registration is open and currently only $159
